Inbound is the New Outbound

We all get them, the late night calls that we dread just as we’re about to sit down for dinner or enjoy some television. Of course I’m talking about Telemarketers.  And they all seem to know exactly when we’re at home and when we don’t want to be bothered. If it isn’t a telemarketer intruding, then it’s most likely a television commercial that airs right before the climax of your favourite show. It seems that these are inevitable disruptions that most of us have come to accept but many of us still get annoyed and frustrated. But with the advent of technology, we have become wiser in our ability to filter these interruptions, be it using caller-id or even the prized PVR to skip commercials.

So what options are available for advertisers to reach consumers? Recently the concept of Inbound Marketing has gained prevalence.  A Boston-based company called Hubspot is a leader in the field of Inbound Marketing providing their own customers ways to use Inbound Marketing to attract consumers.  So what is Inbound Marketing? Inbound Marketing is any form of non-intrusive marketing that attracts and engages a consumer toward a company brand or product without any hard selling or cold calling. Check out Hubspot’s blog post on this topic for a good analogy.

To implement Inbound Marketing techniques, Social Media happens to be an excellent tool and Google Organic Search is the perfect example of how a consumer can find your brand or product on their own. At Camilion Solutions, we like to think of our corporate website as a ‘Hub’, and we use different social media tools, including this blog, to drive traffic toward our hub.

In addition to our corporate blog, which drives organic traffic to our site, we’ve also created numerous social media campaigns to increase our online brand presence.  Some of these include:

  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Online Video
  • Webinars
  • Blogging
  • And more

If you are curious about the details of the above campaigns, I encourage you to check out our entry in the Hubspot Inbound Marketing contest.  Not to mention, you can vote for Camilion as well: Vote Now.  Voting for Camilion Solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Although Outbound Marketing tactics aren’t completely dead, the idea of embracing Inbound Marketing is becoming more favorable for both advertisers and consumers.

What do you think? Do you find Inbound Marketing is an effective tool or are you convinced that Outbound Marketing is still the way to go?
